The events of this political thriller are based on the real life of Patrick Chamusso (Derek Luke), an apolitical black South African who becomes a freedom fighter for the ANC after a brutal run-in with the government. Patrick stages a daring solo attacks against the apartheid regime, even as a policeman (Tim Robbins) integrates his way into the lives of Patrick and his family. Catch A Fire is considered a biographical companion piece to the 1988 film A World Apart.
