'Atonement' was triumphant last night at the 2008 BAFTA film awards having been named best film at the star-studded event held at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
Accepting the award were producers Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Paul Webster, alongside director Joe Wright. The ceremony was also attended by the film's stars Keira Knightley and James McAvoy who were both nominated for their roles.
'Atonement' also picked up the award for production design, with the BAFTA going to Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer for their stunning work recreating 1930s England and the war-torn London and France of the 1940s.
The BAFTA for best film comes soon after the best film win at the Golden Globes. 'Atonement' is also nominated for best film at the Oscars which will be held on Sunday 24th February at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
